

AHKNCRD Information
Akhtar Hameed Khan National Centre for Rural
Development (AHKNCRD) was established as a Federal Training
and Research Institution in the year 1979. It is functioning as an
Executive Department of the Establishment Division, Government
of Pakistan. In recognition of invaluable services rendered by late
Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan for the cause of community
development and empowerment of the poor and marginalized
people in Pakistan, Government of Pakistan renamed NCRD as
Akhtar Hameed Khan National Center for Rural Development
(AHKNCRD) in the year 2000. The activities of Centre focus on
four major types of programmes:
- Training courses;
- Conferences, Seminars and Workshops;
- Learning and Research;
- Liaison with International Organizations.

Mr. Israr Mohammad Khan has been appointed as Director General on 13th April, 2018. He is a graduate from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, New York, USA. Earlier he did Masters in Public Administration from Gomal University, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and thereafter joined NCRD on 15th September, 2001 as Assistant Director. He has extensively travelled abroad, and represented Pakistan on various events pertaining to field of good governance, poverty alleviation, rural development etc in various countries such as Bangladesh, Fiji Islands, Japan, Jordon, Malaysia, Morocco, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and USA. He has reinvigorated role of the Centre in up-scaling and expanding the capacity building programmes for poverty alleviation and uplifting of rural masses.

The training and research needs of rural development, municipal administration themes, AHKNCRD liaises with various international agencies like CIRDAP, AARDO and LOGOTRI in present while in past with SAARC, APO, UNICEF, ILO, FES, ESCAP and other such organizations engaged in rural uplift endeavors. The Centre is situated at a distance of 10 km. from Faizabad on Park Road, Chak Shahzad. The Campus is located on 12 acres of land, comprising administrative block, auditorium, conference room, classrooms, faculty offices, Library and hostel. Apart from a residential colony for the Officers and Staff.
The Annual Training Calendar highlights the details of AHKNCRD training programmes. Computer Lab have also been established at AHKNCRD to conduct Computer trainings. No training fee is charged from participants for all of the courses. However, the departments/organizations of the nominees bear the cost of TA & DA etc. Hostel accommodation for participants on double occupancy basis is available at affordable rates. Besides accommodation mess facility is available on self-financing basis. AHKNCRD also extends logistical, secretarial and faculty support to national and international organizations for seminars, workshops and training courses.
