Sindh Civil Services & Local Government Academy
INITIALLY established in 1953 as the Village Aid (VAID) Training Institute at Sakrand, and then was shifted to Tandojam in 1956. Its functions included providing pre-service & in-service training to newly recruited male and female Village Workers under the V-AID Program, focusing on subjects such as:- agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, poultry, carpeting, home economics, and community development.
IN 1960, following the implementation of the Basic Democracies (BD) system, it was renamed as the Basic Democracies Training Institute, Southern Zone. It catered to the training needs of officers, officials, and elected representatives of Local Councils established under the Article 79 of the BDO-1959 and the Municipal Administration Ordinance, 1960.
AFTER winding-up of the BD system and implementation of the SLGO-1979, it was saved under Section 84 of the SLGO, 1979 and renamed as the Sindh Local Government & Rural Development Academy, with its status raised to the provincial level for training of Elected Representatives, Government Functionaries of Local Councils and NGOs.
FINALLY in 2006, after the augmentation of the Revenue Academy with the Sindh Local Government & Rural Development, it was upgraded and renamed as the Sindh Civil Services & Local Government Academy.
